Women And Their Bodies | Social Taboos | Enliven

Women are now in respected positions in our country and eager to take up professions and careers thus, they are getting equal respect in the family though women body is still in controversy. Isn't it?!!

What do women wear? How do they wear it? Where do they wear it? and why they should not wear it? Why do women body draws so much attention? Why is society sensitive about the body only for women?

As in Indian society, it is a matter of Pride men believe it is a treasure that is to be protected from strangers. Really?

If we are so sensitive about women and their bodies we should be sensitive about men too. Isn't it inequality?

Every year we see one or the other member of some political party elevating the issue that it is the woman body that invites the rapist, It is the woman who is guilty of these crimes because they wear western dresses and all.

Huh! seriously?

Society needs to stop judging a woman by her dress she has equal privilege as men.

And instead of giving lessons to women why we don't give lessons to men? Because most of the sexual harassment cases which happens against females are in their own houses by their relatives. Females today are neither safe at home nor outside. women of all ages are currently facing this problem it is still a challenge and the harsh reality of today's generation is that they are using porn sites out of curiosity that is portraying females as an object.

Isn't it the mentality of a society that causes these acts? I let you ponder over this.

Indian society has completely objectified women bodies from forcing them to wear clothes that make them feel uncomfortable to placing them like fake objects during a marriage.

Even after 75 years of independence women are often taught what to wear and how to represent themselves in front of men by society. Society writes rules for women on how to live.

You all must have seen a so-called neighbour aunty saying, "you are too fat", no one will marry you or "your body tone is too dark", men don't like dark-skinned girls. These statements not only demoralize the female but also demean men who are gentlemen and don't care about outer beauty.

Despite the continuous development in various sectors, poor vision towards women body image sedentary since ages and media has a large impact on woman's body image (Fair skin is better than dark, skinny girls look more attractive than fatty ones) because of that almost everyone has once in life wished that they could change themselves and due to that sexualized images, women are pressurized to undergo plastic surgery. The media need to portray women as who they are. They need to respect women and they need to change.

As humans, we all are attracted towards glittering and lavishing outer appearances but that extinct through time.

Reminder: Inner beauty, kindness & love always triumph over outer beauty.

But nowadays, society is breaking all the norms that have curtailed women from their rights. It is very important to create a more inclusive society.

● Some of the suggestions are as follows:-

1) A woman body is not a matter of pride or an object that is to be protected it is the beauty of nature that should be loved and accepted. All bodies are beautiful and valid.

2) A critical and practical approach should be taught to children about sex education and influence the young minds so that they won't take up misconceptions from a misleading society because Indians are still not open about sex and teenagers are lacking in sex education.

3) Actors, Actresses and Social media influencers should promote inner beauty, not revenge bodies or notions like being skinny are being beautiful.

We don't have that many obstacles but the way society creates the storm in a teacup is a matter of concern. However, despite these: We need a serious change in the thinking about women and their bodies and also it is not a matter of discussion.

Last but not least It's her choice, how she wants to show her body and how she wants to represent herself socially instead of blaming and nagging her to wear uncomfortable clothes, we must ask the men to change their thinking.
