Do emotions make us weak? | Motivation | Enliven

Ask yourself, do some emotions make you weak or give you strength to fight?

Happy, sad, insecurity, anger, love, hate, amiability, regret, guilt, sympathy, empathy, competition, kindness, cruelty and sorry are some of the most common emotions we feel in our day to day lives. In this fast-moving world, we are trying to expect more and more consciously or unconsciously. This makes us more vulnerable to all the emotions mentioned above. Now I am not going to advocate which emotion is positive or which one is negative because I feel that emotions are emotions that are not meant to be judged but to be felt deep inside and acknowledged.

But the more important question is do they make us strong or weak?

The insecurity of losing somebody or something makes us feel like hell. Even the thought of it makes us quite vulnerable at the instance. But if you change your perspective a little, it also strengthens your relationship with people and things. It allows you to express your love and insecurities which makes you more comfortable and open in that relationship.

The same thing is with sadness. When you are really happy, you smile naturally, your face shines and ligaments stretch without force. But, when you are sad and pretend to be happy, it hurts and aches there, right in the middle of your heart. But some people are very good at it so if you know somebody who may be faking their smile, then ask them at least 3-4 times about what's going on in their life. This will make them a bit suspect and who knows they might tell you the reality and truth.

Similarly, hate teaches you how not to behave in a particular manner, regret stops you from committing the same mistakes, and guilt lets you feel the pain and understand being in others' shoes. Even heartbreaks and very hard to handle but it teaches you the importance of privacy, self-love and self-sufficiency.

So emotions might make us weak for the initial period, but in a long run, they might equip us with more capabilities, skills and of course experiences.

Some people may ask can we stop feeling emotions? It's like asking can we stop breathing or eating?

No one in this world can make himself emotionless. And people who become emotionless, become utterly cruel and devilish from inside.

Although we may decrease the intensity with which we feel emotions.

Now how can we do that? The answer is by reacting the very least in any situation. When life gives you everything, you become exponentially happy, now being happy is no problem, but at the same time if you become grateful to God, your parents, and your family, your success feels more humble and grounded. It never reaches the top of your head. At that point, you are proud, not egoistic.

Similarly, when life takes everything from you, you feel destroyed. But at the same time when you feel, that whatever you have lost was ultimately created by you. You feel entitled and powerful. Now you can recreate or achieve whatever you have lost.

So it's all up to you, how you perceive emotions. If you feel weak in front of them they will make you weaker, but if you show even the slightest of strength, the same emotions offer you a sword and shield to fight and conquer the world.
